PORT AND COASTAL ENGINEERING(항만공학)

• The world container trade has been increasing by 10% annually, requiring the advent of mega-size container carriers. Constructing new container harbors or revamping of old ones to accommodate these giant ships are hindered by environmental issues and safety concerns. The Mobile Harbor is a revolutionary concept to address these challenges by directly handling the containers in the open sea. The research of the KAIST OSE in the area covers:
• (전세계 컨테이너 물동량은 매년 10%씩 급증하고 있으며, 이를 위하여 초대형 컨테이너 선박이 등장하였다. 초대형 컨테이너 선박을 위하여 새로운 항만을 건설하거나 기존 항만을 개조하는 것은 환경적인 오염뿐만 아니라 다양한 안전상의 문제를 야기한다. 해상에서 컨테이너를 직접 선적 및 하역하는 모바일 하버는 이러한 문제를 혁신적으로 해결하는 개념이며, KAIST OSE는 다음과 같은 분야를 연구 중이다:)
